HM The Queen is really a coach!

She can help you with your New Year resolutions !

And more than you might expect!

The end of the year is the traditional time to review the previous 12 months and, if you’re a stateswoman, to give a public message going forward to the new year.

I rarely miss the Queen’s Christmas broadcast, even living abroad in Prague. Me and Her Majesty go back a long way! But more about that another time.

Hint: I was one of those choristers singing at the end of the video.

I don’t know if she writes her own speeches or she has a trusted scriptwriter, but she usually has much to say.

Her 2019 Christmas address particularly rings true, particularly for those who like to start the year by making New Year’s resolutions

And her message was one that I also give to each client:

“Small steps lead to greatness.”

It’s simple really – the accumulation of small successes leads to a greater sum achievement.

She makes this claim no less than 6 times in her short address and, while her main theme is of reconciliation (in a divided country), as a certified coach I for one am glad that she drew such attention to this simple truth.

So, for those of you who have resolved to change something about the way you live your life, bear in mind this simple tenet:

Small steps lead to greatness!

Watch the whole address video below and find the following quotes:

Citing Neil Armstrong: “A small step for man, a giant leap for mankind.”

“A reminder for us all that giant leaps often start with small steps.”

“Progress often comes through small steps”

“In time, Jesus Christ would show the world how small steps can overcome long-held differences and deep-seated divisions to bring harmony and understanding.”

“But small steps can make a world of difference.”

“And as we all look forward to the start of a new decade, it is worth remembering that it is often the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring about the most lasting change.”

Let me know what you think!
